TEACHING TIPS
Welcome to LES MILLS BARRE 07! Filmed on
site in the lush environment of New Zealand, but
don’t let this distract you from the beautiful burn
of this brand-new workout.
In our first track, we get to work straight away
– warming up the body and finding a strong
focus on our postural engagement. Throughout
each sequence of movement, hone in on simple,
concise cues – with a focus on great alignment
and postural engagement, leaving space for
breath cues and silence, to connect deeper to
this scene setting music. Whilst the work is real in
the execution of the movement, ensure that you
set a warm and welcoming environment for your
classes, using a gentle conversational voice.
Technically speaking, when you execute a tendu
you are lengthening the leg as long as you can,
rotating the leg from the hip, lifting out of your
supporting hip and engaging the quads. Whilst
there is a lot of technique involved in this simple
movement, there is a huge workout factor. Ensure
you find time to nail the technique of this basic
move as it will ensure success for moving through
the rest of the class with ease.
