THE HISTORY OF BOXING
Boxing is a combat sport where two participants,
generally of similar weight, fight each other with
only their fists. Boxing is supervised by a referee
and is typically performed inside a ring with
rounds lasting 1 to 3 minutes. There are three
ways to win:
• Victory is achieved if the opponent is knocked
down and unable to get up before the referee
counts to 10 seconds; this is called a knockout
or KO.
• If the opponent is deemed too injured to
continue, this is called a technical knockout or
TKO.
• If there is no stoppage of the fight before
an agreed number of rounds, a winner is
determined either by the referee’s decision or
by judges’ scorecards.
There are four basic punches in Boxing: Jab,
Straight Right/Cross, Hook and Uppercut.
THE HISTORY OF KARATE
Karate is a Martial Art that is centuries old and
essentially Japanese. The translation of ‘kara’ is
open and the translation of ‘te’ is hand. So Karate
means ‘empty hand’. Karate training is commonly
divided into three sections:
• Kihon (the basics or fundamentals)
• KATA (forms)
• Kumite (sparring)
THE HISTORY OF MUAY THAI
Muay Thai is referred to as ‘The Art of Eight
Limbs’, as the hands, shins, elbows and knees
are all used extensively in this art. A practitioner
of Muay Thai (Nak Muay) thus has the ability to
execute strikes using eight ‘points of contact’, as
opposed to ‘two points’ (fists) in Western Boxing
and ‘four points’ (fists, feet).
Muay Thai is the national sport of Thailand

THE HISTORY OF KUNG FU
Kung Fu consists of a number of fighting styles
that were developed over many centuries.
Essentially this is a Chinese Martial Art, practiced
by Shaolin monks. Those fighting styles are
identified as ‘families’ or schools. Examples of
these styles are physical exercises that mimic
movements from animals.
There are five animal forms:

to maximize movement control while building a
super strong base.
Planks, dynamic Power Skiers, Glute Bridges
and Bentover Rows are fundamental exercises in
building a powerful body.
With some smart rhythm changes and small
variations, this workout drives brilliance in stability,
power and endurance and helps to develop
balance.
Musically, this release will have you singing,
smiling and moving with great control. The
45-minute format has been receiving lots of

In many ways the workout for LES MILLS SPRINT
Release 29 is super intense but it’s the music, the
amazing music, that defines this release.
We have introduced a walk in track, and when
you hear it you will love it. The vibe is cool and
smooth, and while participants set themselves up
the anticipation will build towards the Accelerated
Warm-up.
From there, our workout experience is enhanced
by the music and the beat. Our goal is to find the
right Load, the right pressure, and then it’s about
holding the beat as long as we can!
As we’ve always said we are not a prisoner to the
beat, however, we can guarantee the use of the
beat, and the challenge of holding it, elevates this
workout.
Ok. Let’s discuss the workout.
The uplifting and enticing Accelerated Warm-up
drops and it feels different, with two long efforts
of Strength and Power. We are ready.
Next comes Heavy Power with 3x 40-second
efforts that take a toll on the legs and get the
heart pounding.
Speed Endurance follows, along with the new
Sprint challenges of holding the beat and hitting
the surges. We definitely feel the adrenaline in
this one.

The second half of the class gets serious.
Firstly, the Standing Power runs focus on an
uprightbody position with lots of core control and
light hands, as we move like we’re running up a
set of stairs.
Secondly, the Heavy Strength builds and sustains
musclepressure before a short sharp Power phase
to finish.
A complete workout that sounds fresh and moves
your fitness into another stratosphere.

Welcome to BODYSTEP 129!
This release is all about having big fun with
athletic energy as we warm up to the song Big
Energy.
We then push our way through the crowd with
some rhythmic Mambos in Track 2, and onward
to Peak 1, which is bound to give you the Shivers
with a fun Vampire theme.
We then Move It in the Mixed Strength track with
standing and Plank Jacks to the songs Physically
Fit and Jack.
Peak 2 will have you begging for more with the
Rotating Leg Abductions. Then we test our core
strength and balancing skills with Lunges and
Weighted Tilting arm lines.
Then get ready to party with 2 moves that we join
together to create our BODYSTEP TikTok routine
to About Damn Time.
We have some great cross training in our Athletic
Circuit with plyo training, speed work, and Surfer
Burpees.
We end the cardio training with a sassy and
empowering track to Miss Independent.
In Conditioning 2, we challenge our leg strength
with a ‘pause’ in the Squat Combo. It’s all about
time under tension training.
And finally, some great stretches to cool down
with to Say So.

We have a beautiful, melodic, uplifting Warm-up
track. Find the SET position, grab a light barbell,
and let’s go!
Right off the bat, we have a big, driving Squat
track set up in WIDE Stance to access the range
of movement for a no rest, full blast, leg training
track, followed by isolating and strengthening the
chest muscles – it’s both funky and fun!
We build huge power and speed as we move
into Back training. Sets 2 and 3 will hit you in the
cardio zone. Then the first big four working tracks
are done!
Take your daily dose of Triceps medicine with
Presses and Pullovers – building strength and
toning the muscles.
We hit the Biceps with the Preacher Curls and
then focus on isolated glute movements, hip and
leg training. Stay stable and strong as we build
athletic glutes! We stabilize the shoulders with
I, Y and T’s and then unleash the power of the
Shoulder Press.
Before you know it, it’s Sunday, rest day.
A simple, iconic, essence-based workout with
high repetitions and light weights, this is how we
train our bodies – enjoy!
